NFL Draft 2025 Rounds 4-7 live updates: Shedeur Sanders latest, today’s best available players, grades

After several NFL teams stuck to a “best player available” approach in the first round that led to some surprising and intriguing picks, those teams took a more needs-based approach in the second and third rounds of the draft.

One of the most striking examples of this is the Denver Broncos, who were expected to aggressively target a running back as early as the first round. Instead, they took Texas cornerback Jahdae Barron at No. 20 overall and waited to pick their running back until near the end of the second round, taking the speedy RJ Harvey out of UCF.

Other teams stuck specifically to one side of the ball. The Patriots have used their four picks so far to add to young quarterback Drake Maye’s supporting cast on offense, while the 49ers have drafted only on defense after losing several impactful defensive veterans in free agency. The Chiefs have focused on adding to their offensive and defensive lines after their embarrassing performance in the trenches in their Super Bowl loss to the Eagles.
