Samuel was a Swiss Army Knife for the 49ers under head coach Kyle Shanahan. Per NFL Research, Samuel is the only wide receiver in NFL history with 20-plus career rush touchdowns and 20-plus career receiving TDs.

Last offseason, Samuel and wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk were linked to trade rumors. This offseason, the team decided to give Samuel a chance to head elsewhere.

Samuel, 29, played in 15 games in 2024 and had just 51 receptions, his low mark of any season with 13-plus appearances. He recorded 670 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns, plus 42 rush attempts for 136 yards and a score.
