- Shining Revelry set added powerful cards like Wugtrio Ex and Dragonite, impacting the meta pre-Celestial Guardians release.
- Lunala Ex in Celestial Guardians combos well with Giratina Ex, reshaping Psychic decks and potentially improving them upon release.
There are many great cards in Pokemon TCG Pocket, both for those who prefer collecting them and those who like the casual or competitive aspect of it, and the upcoming Celestial Guardians expansion is about to please these categories alike. From Pokemon TCG Pocket‘s new Rare Candy card that can finally make Stage 2 critters more consistent across the board to cards like Alolan Raichu Ex, the meta will dramatically change when Celestial Guardians is released. Yet, some cards that are already extremely good right now may continue to remain broken with Celestial Guardians, specifically one of the most used Ex Pokemon introduced with Shining Revelry.
Much like every set before it, Shining Revelry added a handful of very potent cards that have been dominating the charts in some way for the past month. The set spawned decks with Wugtrio Ex or Dragonite from Genetic Apex to take care of opposing benched Pokemon, which became a problem due to the use of Giratina Ex and Darkrai Ex alongside wall Pokemon like Druddigon. It’s too early to say how the meta will change with the set, but Pokemon TCG Pocket‘s new expansion is about to make one of the current best decks even better thanks to Celestial Guardians’ Lunala Ex.

Giratina Ex decks in Pokemon TCG Pocket are very powerful because this is the only card in the game with the ability to generate Energy on the first turn of a match, thanks to Broken-Space Bellow. Lunala Ex is one of the first cards revealed in the teaser trailer for Celestial Guardians, and it is a Stage 2 card evolving from Cosmog and Cosmoem. It has 180 HP and an attack capable of dealing 100 damage for three Energy, one of which needs to be Psychic. However, its strongest suit is its Psychic Connect ability, which allows players to move all Psychic Energy from one benched Pokemon to the active slot.
How Lunala Ex Combos With Giratina Ex in Pokemon TCG Pocket
This is particularly powerful because it doesn’t require Lunala Ex to be in a specific slot, so Psychic Connect can be activated from anywhere. On top of that, it creates an incredible combo with Giratina Ex because it generates Psychic Energy on its own, meaning that if players need to retreat Giratina Ex to the bench or move it to the active spot, Lunala Ex can rearrange all the Psychic Energy available. For example, one could gather Energy with Giratina Ex and then move it to Lunala Ex when it’s fully evolved to attack, or even move four Energy onto a Mewtwo Ex to then deal 150 damage.
There are several combos that Lunala Ex can enable once Celestial Guardians comes out, and it’s very plausible that it will become a staple of Giratina Ex decks and even improve them. Pokemon TCG Pocket‘s new Alolan Raichu Ex is potentially a good counter to Giratina Ex or other cards that favor building Energy on the bench, as it has Psychic as its attack to hit for 60 plus 30 for each Energy attached to the opposing active Pokemon. However, Lunala Ex can counter this to a degree by moving Energy around.
Considering that Lunala Ex requires just one Psychic Energy for its attack and Giratina Ex generates Psychic Energy on its own, the two could even be splashed in a different deck, such as Darkrai Ex. It remains to be seen how impactful Lunala Ex will truly be, but considering how powerful Giratina Ex already is, it’s likely the extra help will only make it stronger or more consistent. Pokemon TCG Pocket is about to celebrate its half-year anniversary, and with Rayquaza Ex already revealed for it, more cards will likely follow, and the meta will evolve accordingly.
