The Oregon Ducks have a history of producing linebackers that lead successful NFL careers. Jeffrey Bassa is hoping that he can be next in line after he was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs with the No. 156 pick in the 2025 NFL draft.
Originally arriving in Eugene as a safety, Bassa has established himself as one of the more versatile defenders in this draft class. His natural position plays a huge role in why Bassa is so good in coverage, but that is not all he can do.

In the two years precluding the 2024 season, in which the fifth-round pick was limited due to an ankle injury, he finished second on the Ducks in tackles. He’s also a disruptive blitzer who produced the second most pressures among all Pac-12 linebackers.
Since Bassa has only been playing the position for a few years, it doesn’t seem like he’s locked in as a full-time linebacker in the NFL. He can play multiple positions on defense and that versatility is always being sought out at the next level, so it is a good sign for his ability to have an impact for the Chiefs.
