For the first time, the Oscars are live streaming on Hulu this year — or at least they were supposed to be.
As the 97th Academy Awards kicked off on Sunday, Hulu subscribers took to the streamer’s support account on X to express their frustration over technical issues plaguing the feed. Some users complained that Hulu was completely down, while others received an error message. (For our part, this TVLine staffer got a black screen when clicking on Hulu’s Oscars feed.)
“Well, I guess I’m not watching the Oscars this year. Thanks @hulu for your unusuable garbage app,” wrote X user @corwyn93.
“@hulu FIX YOUR SERVICE. Im missing the oscars…. how are you going to advertise something and it be down????” wrote @BangItBethy.
Hulu Support’s X account, in turn, replied, “Sorry for any upset! We’re currently investigating this behavior with a high priority, and we hope to have a fix in place soon. Thank you for your patience!”
The year’s Oscars ceremony, hosted by Conan O’Brien, is airing on ABC. Those hoping to watch online needed to sign up for a live-TV streaming service that includes ABC, or subscribe to Hulu.
