Pat Sajak has landed a new starring role, months after retiring from Wheel of Fortune.
The iconic game show host, 78, will star in a stage performance of Prescription: Murder at the Hawaii Theatre Center in Honolulu, Hawaii, this summer, according to Broadway World.
Sajak will play psychiatrist Dr. Roy Fleming in the William Link and Richard Levinson play, which also stars TV newscaster Joe Moore as Lieutenant Columbo. The shows will run from July 31 to August 10, 2025.
Prescription: Murder was the inspiration for the 1970s television series Columbo, per the theater’s official website.
Sajak’s acting gig was first teased last June, just after he ended his 43-year run as host of Wheel of Fortune. At the time, Hawaii Theatre Centre President Gregory D. Dunn addressed how the TV host got involved with the theater production.
“Pat Sajak and Joe Moore are longtime friends from their service in the army in Vietnam. Joe Moore is Hawaii’s leading broadcast anchor. He’s been on the KHON 2 news for decades, and he and Pat still enjoy acting together,” Dunn told People magazine. “Through his relationship with Joe, Pat has been invited to perform at The Hawaii Theatre. They’ve done six shows together over the years.”
Dunn also praised Sajak for “generously” donating his time and talent to raise money to help support the nonprofit theater.
While Sajak is best known for hosting Wheel of Fortune from 1981 to 2024, his past acting gigs include small roles and cameos on Days of Our Lives, The A-Team, and The King of Queens, per IMDb.
