Priyanka Chopra Jonas made jewelry history tonight at the Met Gala, an event celebrating the museum’s Costume Institute exhibit, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, inspired by curator Monica Miller’s 2009 book, Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity.

The actress, author, producer, and Bvlgari ambassador wore a piece from the Italian house that won’t officially make its debut until the end of May, when the Bvlgari High Jewelry collection is unveiled to press and clients at an event in Taormina, Italy. But the Met Gala is considered one of the most high profile red carpets of the year, hence this momentous preview. The necklace Chopra Jonas is wearing tonight is centered around a rare emerald of 241.06 carats and is the largest faceted stone ever set by Bvlgari. It is inspired by the idea of harmony in diverse forms, specifically of the union between nature and design. It even has a name: the Magnus Emerald necklace. Chopra Jonas wore it with a Balmain Couture gown and with other Bvlgari High Jewelry pieces, including an emerald and diamond ring and diamond and platinum earrings.

This is not the first time Chopra Jonas has attended the Met Gala—it is actually her fifth—and it is not the first time she made history with Bvlgari. At the 2023 gala, Chopra Jonas wore the Bvlgari Laguna Blu, an exceedingly rare 11.16-carat pear-shaped blue diamond that had not been seen in public in forty years.
