Vanderbilt football long snapper Julian Ashby was drafted with the 35th pick of the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft on April 26.
He is the first Commodore to get drafted since 2021. He is also the first long snapper to get drafted since 2021.
Ashby joined Vanderbilt as a graduate transfer from Furman before the 2024 season.

NFL.com described Ashby as, “Undersized but highly accurate snapper with good operation quickness in getting the ball to his punter. Ashby appears to be the best long snapper in the draft class.”

Ashby was part of a Vanderbilt special teams unit that ranked as No. 1 in the country during the regular season, according to ESPN.

Ashby was not invited to the NFL combine, but he did participate in the Commodores’ pro day. There, he ran a 4.88 40-yard dash, a 30-inch vertical jump and a 9-foot-7 broad jump. He also bench pressed 15 reps.
