Red Sox Vs. Brewers Lineups: Slumping Starter Returns For Boston

Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Sunday he would consider sitting the struggling Trevor Story for two straight games as a reset.

Cora ultimately decided against that.

Story, who sat out the series finale against the Baltimore Orioles, is back in the lineup playing shortstop and batting seventh as the Red Sox open up a three-game series with the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday from American Family Field. Story’s slump at the plate stretches over a month long, with the veteran middle infielder batting .126 (14-for-111) with one home run, six RBIs and 39 strikeouts compared to six walks since April 22.

Cora opted to give another struggling starter in Ceddanne Rafaela a day off. Kristian Campbell moved to center field while David Hamilton will start at second base. Marcelo Mayer will get his third consecutive start at the hot corner in place of the injured Alex Bregman.

The Red Sox will hand the ball to ace Garrett Crochet and will look to have him go deep into the game with their bullpen taxed as of late.
