Safety tips as smoky conditions persist near Carolina Forest

CAROLINA FOREST, S.C. (WPDE) — An increase in smoke from the ongoing fires may be noticed in certain areas that were not dealing with smoke this weekend.

This is due to wind shift occurring on Sunday evening.

According to the CDC, wildfire smoke can irritate your eyes, nose, throat and lungs, making it hard to breathe.

Children and people with lung disease need to be especially careful about breathing in smoke, based on CDC guidelines.
