Series-opener between Cubs, Phillies starts in weather delay

The tarp covers the field during a weather delay at Wrigley Field.

The opening game of the Cubs’ series with the visiting Phillies started in a weather delay Friday afternoon.

The Wrigley Field grounds crew rolled the tarp out a little more than an hour prior to the originally scheduled first pitch of 1:20 p.m.

After the North Siders went 4-1 in home series against the Diamondbacks and Dodgers over the last week, Cubs right-hander Colin Rea and Phillies right-hander Taijuan Walker were scheduled to square off in the first of a three-game set this weekend.
