LUBBOCK, Texas — Tornadoes were previously on the ground in rural areas south of Littlefield and Amherst. Those specific warnings expired; however, the storm that produced those tornadoes was headed towards Lubbock County on Friday evening. The National Weather Service advised to remain alert for a possible tornado.
Widespread severe weather was expected across the South Plains, with Lubbock being upgraded to an enhanced risk, according to the National Weather Service. Wind gusts up to 75 mph, very large hail, potential tornadoes and heavy rain and flash flooding remained threats for the day. As the threat for severe weather diminishes, the risk of flash flooding will exacerbate. Lubbock and several other counties were on a flood watch.

- Tornado Watch issued through 10 p.m. for Bailey, Briscoe, Castro, Childress, Cochran, Cottle, Crosby, Dickens, Floyd, Garza, Hale, Hall, Hockley, King, Lamb, Lubbock, Lynn, Motley, Parmer, Swisher, Terry and Yoakum counties.
