Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth shared sensitive military information, including flight schedules for strikes in Yemen, in a private Signal group chat that included his wife Jennifer Hegseth, his brother, and his personal lawyer, the New York Times reported, citing four individuals with knowledge of the chat.
The group, created by Hegseth before his confirmation as defense secretary, was named “Defense | Team Huddle” and initially intended for administrative discussions. However, sources say that on March 15, Hegseth used the chat to relay operational details about U.S. airstrikes targeting Houthi militants in Yemen, around the same time he shared the same information in a separate Signal thread that mistakenly included the editor of The Atlantic, Jeffrey Goldberg.
This story will be updated with more details.
