Jon Hamm got a visit from a fellow Emmy winner this week on Saturday Night Live — and ignited a debate that’s tailor-made for TV lovers. (Like us.)
Hamm hosted Saturday’s SNL, using his monologue to brag about all the cameos he’s done on the show since he last hosted. He praised cameos as a tool to use “when a sketch needs that little something extra”… and sure enough, he was joined on stage by Kieran Culkin, who has hosted SNL himself before and is fresh off winning an Oscar for A Real Pain.
Culkin explained he’s “just making a cameo,” giving a friendly wave to the audience, but Hamm was annoyed that he was stealing his spotlight, so Culkin offered to make it up to him. “OK cool, man, just give me your Oscar,” Hamm quipped. But Culkin fired back: “Don’t you have enough, man? I’ve seen those photos of you in your gray sweatpants. Must be nice.” (Zing!)
Then Hamm mumbled something under his breath, and Culkin asked him to repeat it. “Mad Men is better than Succession!” Hamm finally blurted out, and Culkin took issue with that: “No, it isn’t!” Hamm swiftly ended the debate, though, telling Culkin, “I think we can both agree that you’re wrong,” before hustling him off stage. But man, we kind of wanted to hear them get into that debate a little further. We’re here for it!
