Colts draft trade: Indianapolis moved back 10 spots in the fourth round to add a 6th-rounder

INDIANAPOLIS — Colts general manager Chris Ballard waited a little longer than usual to start moving around the board, but the first trade of the 2025 NFL Draft has happened.

Indianapolis traded its fourth-round pick, No. 117 overall, to Los Angeles to move back 10 spots and pick up a sixth rounder. The Rams took running back Jarquez Hunter out of Auburn. The Colts took 6-8, 339-pound offensive tackle Jalen Travis at No. 127.

This is a dead-even deal according to the standard NFL draft trade value chart with the 117th pick worth 60 points, the 127th (45) and the 190th (15).

The Colts have the Nos. 151, 189, 190 and 232 picks remaining.

Ballard historically has started moving up and down the board earlier than the final day of the draft, but he stood pat and picked with his first three selections, marking the first time since 2017 that the Colts made it through the first two days of the draft without making a trade.

“We were really convicted about who was on the board at the time,” Ballard said Friday night. “I mean, that’s what you’re doing. You’re looking and, ‘Okay, who’s on the board?’ What’s it look like below on your board?”

Indianapolis still has obvious needs in the starting lineup at right guard and linebacker, as well as depth pieces at running back, defensive tackle, quarterback and safety.

But the Colts clearly felt like they could move back in the fourth round and still get the kind of player they wanted at No. 127.
