In a must-win scenario to keep their playoff hopes alive, Sunrisers Hyderabad bowlers delivered an inspiring performance. Playing at the Chepauk Stadium today, they restricted Chennai Super Kings to 154 runs. Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and opted to bowl first—a decision that their bowlers fully justified.

Harshal Patel showcased smart bowling to claim 4 wickets, while captain Pat Cummins and Jaydev Unadkat took 2 wickets each. Mohammed Shami and Kamindu Mendis contributed with one wicket apiece. The Sunrisers’ bowling brilliance was well-supported by excellent fielding, leading to the Chennai Super Kings being bowled out in 19.5 overs.

Among the Chennai Super Kings’ batters, young player Dewald Brevis stood out as the top scorer with 42 runs, including 1 four and 4 sixes. Just as Brevis appeared to be gaining momentum, he was dismissed by a stunning diving catch near the boundary line by Kamindu Mendis off Harshal Patel’s bowling.

Opening batsman and Telugu youngster Shaik Rasheed failed to capitalize on his opportunity, getting out for a duck on the very first ball of the innings, bowled by Mohammed Shami. Fellow opener Ayush Matre scored 30 runs, followed by Sam Curran (9), Ravindra Jadeja (21), and Shivam Dube (12). Towards the end, Deepak Hooda played an aggressive knock of 22 runs, helping Chennai Super Kings cross the 150-run mark.

Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni scored 6 runs off 10 balls before being dismissed by Harshal Patel. Attempting a big shot off a change-of-pace delivery, he ended up giving a catch to Abhishek Sharma at point.
