The jewel in HBO’s crown, The Handmaid’s Tale, is coming back to the small screen for the sixth – and final — time.
Adapted from the seminal 1985 novel by Margaret Atwood, The Handmaid’s Tale tells the story of life in the dystopia of Gilead, a totalitarian society in what was formerly the United States. Offred (Elisabeth Moss) is one of the few fertile women known as Handmaids and she struggles to survive as a reproductive surrogate for a powerful Commander and his resentful wife.

The sixth series picks up where the fifth season, which aired two and a half years ago, left off: with June and Serena (Yvonne Strahovski) aboard a refugee train heading for Alaska or Hawaii — anywhere but the inhospitable terrain of Toronto or Boston.
According to the official synopsis of the series, in the sixth season of The Handmaid’s Tale, June’s ‘unyielding spirit and determination pull her back into the fight to take down Gilead.
‘Luke (O.T. Fagbenle) and Moira (Samira Wiley) join the resistance. Serena (Yvonne Strahovski) tries to reform Gilead while Commander Lawrence (Bradley Whitford) and Aunt Lydia (Ann Dowd) reckon with what they have wrought, and Nick (Max Minghella) faces challenging tests of character.

How many episodes are in The Handmaid’s Tale Season 6?
The final season of The Handmaid’s Tale will consist of 10 episodes. For those in need of refreshing their knowledge of all things Gilead, series one to five of the dystopian drama will also be available to stream on Channel 4 ahead of the final series launch.
When do new episodes from season 6 drop?
The first three episodes of The Handmaid’s Tale will be released on Channel 4 and Prime Video on April 8, with the remaining seven episodes then airing weekly on Tuesdays from there on out.
