The Righteous Gemstones Season 4 Episode 8 Ending Explained: Is [SPOILER] Really Dead?

Warning: Contains SPOILERS for The Righteous Gemstones season 4, episode 8!

The penultimate episode of The Righteous Gemstones has finally arrived, and here is what happens at the end of season 4, episode 8, explained, including that shocking death. The Righteous Gemstones always manages to take silly storylines and wildly escalate them near the end of the season, and that is still the case in The Righteous Gemstones season 4. Many of the season’s stories overlap in The Righteous Gemstones season 4, episode 8, setting up an exciting finale that could go in a variety of different directions.

After building up a mystery of who The Righteous Gemstones season 4’s true villain will be, episode 8 finally answers this: Cobb Milsap. While on break from filming Teenjus, Eli Gemstone and Baby Billy Freeman are attacked with poison darts. They wake up to find themselves chained up in Cobb Milsap’s alligator park, with them being held alongside a naked Mitch. This confirms that Cobb has been behind the mysterious disappearances of Lori Milsap’s exes, meaning that Eli and Baby Billy are in imminent danger. They realize that they have to act fast, leading to a mad dash to escape the park.

Is Cobb Really Dead In The Righteous Gemstones Season 4?

His Dead Body Wasn’t Seen

Although Cobb Milsap is powered with a gun and extensive knowledge of the park’s layout, Eli and Baby Billy manage to overtake him. While the trio is engaged in a fistfight, Cobb’s son Corey appears out of nowhere. Corey jumps on Cobb and stabs him in the back, using the very knife that Cobb bought for Corey’s birthday. He then tosses Cobb in the alligator-infested waters. Eli rings the dinner bell, causing one of the park’s largest alligators to appear. He attacks Cobb, with the police then showing up and providing medical care to the trio.

RelatedMichael Rooker plays Cobb Milsap in The Righteous Gemstones, but this character may not be around for long based on the actor’s track record.

Although it hasn’t been fully confirmed, it really looks like Cobb Milsap died in The Righteous Gemstones season 4, episode 8. This alligator has already been shown to be incredibly dangerous, and while Cobb’s body isn’t seen, the attack is pretty vicious. Cobb is bit several times before being dragged away, and it is unlikely that he managed to escape. However, it is entirely possible that Cobb could have used his knowledge of the gator to calm it down, allowing him to make a surprise return in The Righteous Gemstones series finale.

Why Corey Stabbed Cobb To Save Eli & Baby Billy

He Felt Betrayed By His Father

One of the most surprising parts of the battle against Cobb has to do with Corey’s role in it. Corey appeared at just the right time, and although he is a Milsap, he was perfectly willing to kill his father. This may be confusing for some viewers, but there are some explanations. Firstly, Corey explains that Lori was already suspicious of Cobb. Whether this means that he has been regularly monitoring Cobb or that he decided to just come that night, Corey being in the right place at the right time saved Eli and Baby Billy’s lives.

While the means are explicitly explained, the motives are a little more ambiguous. Although Corey cared about his father in “Interlude IV,” their relationship always seemed to be tense. This was only made worse by Corey’s present-day birthday party, where Cobb slapped him. Corey didn’t stand up for himself in this instance, but this likely reignited his distaste for his father. Thus, this could be what motivated Corey to stab Cobb and throw him into the water, saving Eli and Baby Billy.

Cobb’s Death Is Going To Bring The Gemstones & Milsaps Back Together For The Righteous Gemstones’ Series Finale

Proving That They Have Moved On From Aimee-Leigh

Cobb’s death may be shocking, but it perfectly set up The Righteous Gemstones‘ series finale. Cobb’s death seems to have reunited the Gemstones and the Milsaps, with the two families embracing at the end of season 4, episode 8. Cobb has been dividing the two families throughout The Righteous Gemstones season 4, and now that he is out of the way, this may change.

RelatedJesse, Judy, and Kelvin may have just taken over Gemstone Ministries, but their successor has already been revealed in The Righteous Gemstones.

Eli and Lori reigniting their relationship would be the perfect way to end the series, signaling that the Gemstones have finally let go of Aimee-Leigh. The death of Aimee-Leigh Gemstone is at the root of many of the Gemstone family’s problems, and their unwillingness to move on has caused unnecessary pain. Aimee-Leigh is why Jesse, Judy, and Kelvin didn’t want their father to date Lori, but their decision to embrace the Milsaps signals the end of their The Righteous Gemstones character arcs.
