We’ve all had an elaborate fantasy of being cast on The White Lotus (just me? k), but ever wondered how much money you’d actually make on the show? While creator Mike White taps talent ranging from industry vets like Parker Posey to relative newcomers like Sam Nivola, turns out every single cast member on The White Lotus makes the exact same amount: roughly $40,000 per episode. Or, $320,000, for an 8 episode season.
“Everyone is treated the same on The White Lotus,“producer David Bernad told The Hollywood Reporter. “They get paid the same, and we do alphabetical billing, so you’re getting people who want to do the project for the right reasons, not to quote The Bachelor. It’s a system we developed in the first season because there was no money to make the show.”
Casting Director Meredith Tucker added, “It makes it so much easier. You tell people this is what it is. And some won’t do it — and honestly, you can’t hold it against people who need to make a living. Our series regulars are pretty much doing this for scale.”
The Hollywood Reporter also spoke to sources who said the salary is completely non-negotiable—even for big names like Woody Harrelson, who initially signed on to play Rick Hatchett and “went all the way to Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav to see if his salary could be negotiated” only to be shot down. He accepted the role that, but had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts and the part went to Walton Goggins.
Point is: if you get cast on The White Lotus (good luck to you!), expect to make the exact same as everyone else!
