These are the largest NBA playoff wins in league history

The Cleveland Cavaliers flirted with history.

They were roughly one minute away from what would have been the first 60-point win in NBA playoff history. But the Miami Heat managed to “chip away,” and the Cavs went on to win by just 55 with a 138-83 series-clinching victory in Game 4 of their first-round playoff matchup on Monday.

It was the fourth-largest margin of victory in NBA playoff history, with the Cavs nearly also setting the record for largest postseason halftime lead after being up by 39 at the break.

The lopsided victory came just days after the Oklahoma City Thunder recorded what, at the time, was the sixth 50-plus-point playoff victory in league history. The Thunder routed the Memphis Grizzlies 131-80 in the opening game of their first-round series for what was the largest Game 1 margin in NBA history.
