Oscars 2025: Adrien Brody Throws Gum at Girlfriend Georgina Chapman Before Acceptance Speech

Watch: Oscars 2025: See Adrien Brody, Halle Berry Recreate That 2003 Kiss on Red Carpet

There’s nothing brutal about Georgina Chapman‘s love for Adrien Brody.

Before the Brutalist star took the stage to accept his second Academy Award for Actor in a Leading Role during the 2025 Oscars—hosted by Conan O’Brien March 2—he made a last minute decision to get rid of his gum. (For all the stars who won big at the 2025 Oscars, see here.)

The only catch? With no garbage can in sight, Adrien pulled the piece of gum out of his mouth and tossed it to his girlfriend, who caught the chewed up piece of food without hesitation.

Of course, once he got the gum out of the way, Adrien made sure to show his gratitude for Georgina—who shares kids India Pearl, 14, and Dashiell, 11, with ex-husband and disgraced Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein. In fact, the 51-year-old credited her with supporting him in his journey to nabbing the Lead Actor prize, which he won over fellow nominees Timothée Chalamet, Colman Domingo, Ralph Fiennes and Sebastian Stan

“I share this with my amazing partner, Georgina,” Adrien said while on stage, “who has not only reinvigorated my own self worth, but my sense of value and my values and her beautiful children, Daesh in India.”

He added, “I know this… it’s been a roller coaster, but thank you for accepting me into your life.”

He also credited his parents Sylvia Plachy and Elliot Brody as the ones who have inspired his creativity throughout his nearly four-decade career.

“I have to thank my mom and dad, who are here as well,” he continued. “They’ve just created just such a strong foundation of respect and of kindness and a wonderful spirit, and they’ve given me the strength to pursue this dream.”

And while the Midnight in Paris star—who also won the Golden Globe, Critics Choice Award and BAFTA Film Award in the lead-up to the Oscars—was sure to include his parents during Hollywood’s biggest night, he has been no stranger to doing so throughout all of awards season.

“To my mom and dad, you always hold me up,” he said while accepting his Golden Globe Jan. 5. “I often credit my mother for her influence on me as an artist, but dad, you are the foundation of this family and all this love that I receive flows back to you.”

Adrien—who holds the record as the youngest person to win a Lead Actor Oscar at 29 for The Pianist—also reiterated his girlfriend’s impact on his life at the Globes.

“To my beautiful and amazing partner Georgina,” he continued from stage, “your generosity of spirit, your own resilience, your immense creativity are a daily reminder of how to be. I would not be standing here if it wasn’t for you.”
