He has undergone a complete 180 when it comes to public perception of the Mad Scientist – but who is Bryson DeChambeau’s girlfriend?
It’s fair to say he riled some people up in the early part of his career. Despite winning nine times on the PGA Tour and clinching a US Open, DeChambeau struggled to strike a chord with the paying punters.
And the more he tried, the worse it seemed to get.
Describing Augusta National as a “par 67” for him ahead of the 2020 Masters certainly didn’t adhere him to the masses, most of whom will have rejoiced when he laboured to a T34 finish and broke 70 just once.
He reassessed a year later, calling the iconic Georgia layout a “par 68” en route to finishing in a tie for 46th.
Among his haters was Brooks Koepka (who can forget that infamous eyeroll at the 2021 PGA Championship at Kiawah Island).
That was perhaps a reason behind his move to LIV Golf in 2022. And since joining the breakaway circuit and unleashing his YouTube channel onto the world, his popularity has surged.
His second US Open win at Pinehurst last year was incredibly well received, even though it came at the expense of a heartbroken Rory McIlroy.
“I don’t know what to think,” DeChambeau said. “It fully hasn’t sunk in yet. I just want everybody to enjoy it, as well.
“As much as it is heartbreaking for some people, it was heartbreak for me at the PGA [Championship]. I really wanted this one.
“When I turned the corner and saw I was a couple back, I said, ‘Nope, I’m not going to let that happen. I have to focus on figuring out how to make this happen’.
“I was a little lucky. Rory didn’t make a couple putts that he could have coming in. I had an amazing up-and-down on the last. I don’t know what else to say. It’s a dream come true.”
With more popularity comes more interest, though. So is there a special someone in DeChambeau’s life?
Unlike his competitive and recreational golf, most of which is documented, DeChambeau keeps his private life just that.
DeChambeau is rumored to be dating college golfer Lilia Schneider.
Schneider attends Marian University in Indianapolis and has been spotted in a golf cart with DeChambeau at a LIV event in Chicago, although there has been no official announcement they are a couple.
Like DeChambeau, Schneider is something of a social media star and has close to 60,000 Instagram followers and nearly three times as many on TikTok.
DeChambeau was previously with another college golfer, University of Texas’ Hunter Nugent.
However, in September 2022, Nugent told OutKick the pair were no longer dating and stoked the flames of DeChambeau and Schneider’s relationship.
