Wrexham could potentially secure promotion to the Championship on Saturday evening, with their chances of doing so just going up.
Wrexham will win promotion out of League One on Saturday, April 26th, if two things happen.
Firstly, Wycombe Wanderers – currently third – will need to lose their early kick-off against a Leyton Orient side who have been pushing for a play-off finish.
Secondly, and obviously most importantly, Wrexham must beat Charlton Athletic in the day’s late League One fixture.
It’s going to be a very tough clash, with Charlton already dealing a blow to fellow promotion hopefuls Wycombe this week when they beat them 4-0.
And while seeing off Nathan Jones’ men is obviously the main focus, the Red Dragons have just been helped out following an update emerging from Wycombe going into the weekend’s matches.

Wycombe lost 4-0 to Charlton on Monday, seeing them drop two points behind Wrexham with two games to go.

The pair are now level on goal difference, and Mike Dodds’ men need to beat Leyton Orient to really keep themselves in the race going into the final day.
However, their chances of doing so have surely just been dealt a big blow following Dodds’ update on Richard Kone.
Kone has been the Chairboys’ MVP this season, but after he picked up a knock on Monday, the forward, along with Josh Scowen, are doubts to take on Orient on Saturday, with neither having returned to the training pitch ahead of the fixture.
As per the Bucks Free Press, Dodds said: “Josh had a tight hamstring, which was always going to be a risk over the two games [across Easter]. It was something we tried to manage to the best of our ability.
“I think he’ll be OK for the weekend, but we’ll assess him over the next 48 hours, and hopefully he’ll be back on the training pitch.
“Richard is in a similar boat as he takes plenty of whacks. He seems to get a bit of a raw deal, but when you’re a good player, you are always going to get a bit of extra attention.
“Hopefully, he’ll be back on the grass, and fingers crossed, they’ll be back for the weekend.”

Should Kone indeed miss the game, history suggests that the Chairboys will, at the very least, drop two points on April 26.
Wrexham beat Wycombe 1-0 in the last fixture the latter had to play without their 18-goal forward.
Kone has missed another three League One matches over the course of the 2024/25 season.
Two of those ended with Wycombe drawing 1-1 against both Cambridge United and Crawley Town.
The only game Dodds’ men have won this season without Kone in the squad was a 2-0 victory over Bristol Rovers, who are 21st in the league and winless in their last seven.
