Paramount+ series 1923 has been a hit with fans, but will it be back for season 3 and will there be a new generation of Duttons on screen?

The Yellowstone prequel, 1923, has been captivating audiences on Paramount Plus as it delves into the lives of the next generation of Duttons following Taylor Sheridan’s 1883.

The series features Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren as Jacob and Cara Dutton, who are fighting to protect their ranch from developers like the formidable Donald Whitfield, played by Timothy Dalton.

The second season consists of seven episodes, with a two-hour finale set to air on April 6. As the latest episodes continue to unravel, fans are eager to know if a third season is in the works.

Has 1923 been renewed for a third season?

As of now, there’s no official confirmation of a third season for 1923. However, Spencer Dutton actor Brandon Sklenar hinted that there might be more to the 1923-era Dutton story, reports the Irish Star.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter about the season two finale, he said: “It was one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever read in my life, truly.”

Paramount+ has not yet confirmed whether the second season will be the last for 1923. Initially, the show was pitched as a two-season story, but Brandon added: “They haven’t confirmed if it’s stopping here at season two, but I knew before we left to shoot season one ultimately where this was going.”

He further revealed that while he didn’t know the specifics, Taylor Sheridan had given him an idea of how the story would wrap up at the end of season two.

“This story is going to continue one way or another, and I honestly don’t know. But there’s more Dutton story to be told for sure,” he concluded.

The prospect of a new series dedicated to the Dutton offspring seems distant at the moment.

Presently, Taylor Sheridan is not considering a show centered on the Duttons; however, his slate is full with other projects, including a ‘Yellowstone’ offshoot named ‘The Madison. ‘.

‘The Madison’ will focus on a New York City family settling into central Montana’s Madison River valley, starring Hollywood icon Michelle Pfeiffer.
