(TNND) — The payment processing app Zelle shut down its standalone app on Tuesday.
Zelle instead is redirecting its users to use their application through banks and credit unions.
When signing into the app, users will see a pop-up message that says the application is “no longer available for sending and receiving money.”
Users are able to log into the app until August 11, 2025, but they are unable to send or receive money. Users can continue using Zelle by enrolling through a mobile banking app that offers Zelle.
According to a press release, more than 2,200 banks and credit unions across the U.S. offer Zelle through their mobile app or online banking site.
The app can no longer be used for financial transactions, but it is still available as a directory platform to find banks that offer its services.
Since so many mobile banking apps have integrated Zelle on their own platforms, it has driven users away from their standalone app.
Zelle was originally launched in 2017 and is one of the largest payment processing apps available.
