Attorney: Mel Tucker unreachable amid defamation suit

LANSING, Mich. (WILX) – A lawsuit against former Michigan State University Head Football Coach Mel Tucker has stalled. That’s because the former coach can’t be found.

WILX confirmed with the attorney for Brenda Tracy, the woman suing Tucker for defamation, that the football coach is unable to be found.

Tracy is a sexual assault survivor and survivor advocate who accused Tucker of defaming her and breaching a contract. She’s asking the Ingham County Courts to help, as she says Tucker has dodged attempts to serve him with a lawsuit.

Tracy’s lawyer Karen Truszkowski told News 10 they tried to reach Tucker at nine addresses, including the East Lansing home he still owns.

If Tucker doesn’t come forward, a judge could rule in Tracy’s favor by default. The suit was filed in October and aims to address the “Falsehoods” spread by Tucker about Tracy, her lawyer said.

Truszkowki says they have reports of Tucker’s possible location but have yet to confirm.
