(WFSB) – Butter sold in grocery stores in the state has been recalled due to elevated levels of coliform bacteria, the FDA announced Wednesday.
Cabot Creamery Extra Creamy Premium Butter was impacted. They had a best by date of September 9th.
189 cases, amounting to 1,701 pounds, was recalled.
The decision also impacts Arkansas, Maine, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania, and Vermont.
The FDA classified the recall as Class III, the lowest risk category. That means that it is not likely to result in serious health issues.
If you own the butter, throw it away.
