Dallas County, parts of Ellis County, under a flash flood warning early Wednesday

Dallas County and parts of Tarrant and Ellis counties are under a flash flood warning until after 9 a.m.

The National Weather Service’s Fort Worth office warned that strong thunderstorms were moving east at 30 miles per hour, with wind gusts of more than 40 mph.

Drivers should expect flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses, NWS said. About 1.5 to 2 inches of rain has already fallen Wednesday.

The weather service warns drivers to turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads.

From snow to 100-degree heat, we’ve got you covered.

The brunt of the storm will move east by before noon, leaving part of Dallas County and Collin County, as well as all of Rockwall and Ellis Counties, under a threat of strong storms, the Weather Service said.
