If George Clooney’s reputation as a Democratic kingmaker is to be believed, a new party leader could be crowned soon.

The veteran actor said one governor was “levitating” above the rest of the field with a view on the 2028 election, as he gave an interview to CNN covering his critical call for President Biden to withdraw from last year’s election.

Last July, Clooney plunged a dagger into Biden’s re-election campaign with a scathing article that declared the 82-year-old was “not going to win”. The president withdrew from the race later that month.
