TAMPA, Fla. – Yankees second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. wasn’t thrilled with plate umpire John Bacon’s strike zone on Thursday night.
This was hot Jazz, so to speak, arguing long and loud after being called out on strikes – enough to get him bounced by Bacon.
Chisholm Jr. was ejected with two out in the seventh inning at Steinbrenner Field, with the Yankees leading 6-3 against the Tampa Bay Rays, temporary residents at the Yanks’ spring training home.
Following the ejection, a post from Chisholm Jr.’s X account was critical of the call. On the field, Chisholm Jr. had to be restrained by manager Aaron Boone from further arguing with Bacon.
But it wasn’t enough to prevent him from being tossed for aggressively continuing to shout and gesture in Bacon’s direction.
