This article contains spoilers for The Masked Singer season 13, episode 11, “Soundtrack of My Life Night.”
This season of The Masked Singer is rapidly drawing to a close, and things are getting appropriately sentimental because of it.
To that end, Wednesday night’s episode featured what has become a running theme the last few seasons, with Soundtrack of My Life Night. This meant the top five came to play, opening the show with a pitch-perfect performance of “More Than a Feeling,” before each masked contestant was tasked with singing songs with a special meaning to them.
Before they could do that, though, the lights all faded to black dramatically because — shocker! — he’s quaaaack. And by that we mean Lucky Duck once again waddled to the stage to insert himself into the Masked proceedings, this time to introduce himself to the remaining (very confused) contestants, who clearly had no idea where to even look during his spiel.
Speaking of, Lucky Duck proceeded to tell the panelists, “I have uncovered something explosive about one of these famous masks. Turns out they’ve stolen something very valuable from you, Robin [Thicke].” A chart position, perhaps?

Back to business, the final five then brought the house down with outstanding performances of “Sk8er Boi” by Avril Lavigne (Coral), “Million Reasons” by Lady Gaga (Nessy), “Golden Hour” by JVKE (Boogie Woogie), “Your Love” by The Outfield (Pearl), and “The Scientist” by Coldplay (Mad Scientist Monster).
Thanks to the recent reveal that the Golden Ear Trophy is back in play — an award which goes to the panelist with the most correct guesses at the end of the season — the show did a little pre-taped bit setting up a rivalry between Thicke and Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg, who are neck and neck with their guesses this season.
In it, Cluedle-Doo himself, a.k.a. Donnie Wahlberg, showed up to give a pep talk to his pouting wife, who is apparently afraid Thicke might take her crown. Wahlberg assured her, though, that she is “the Clue Queen” and therefore has nothing to worry about.
The panel also talked about the soundtrack to their own lives, with McCarthy-Wahlberg of course name-dropping her husband, who hails from iconic boy band New Kids on the Block. When they asked host Nick Cannon what his soundtracks were, Thicke made perhaps his best joke yet this season by quipping, “It’s probably Mariah Carey’s greatest hits,” to which Cannon could only shrug.
When it was all said and done, Nessy got sent back to the realm of mythical legends by what Cannon claimed was “the closest margin in Masked Singer history,” which apparently meant a vote margin that was “less than 1 %.”

As always, the panel had to make their final guesses before he could unmask, and McCarthy-Wahlberg’s fears of getting usurped by Thicke were proven to be warranted. She guessed John Rzeznik, Rita Ora stuck with Dave Matthews, and Ken Jeong picked John Popper, but it was only Thicke who correctly clocked that Nessy was ’90s hitmaker Edwin McCain, famously known for “I’ll Be” and “I Could Not Ask for More.”

This meant Thicke and McCarthy-Wahlberg are now tied heading into next week’s semifinals, and both the races for the Golden Mask and Golden Ear trophies are coming down to the wire.
The Masked Singer season 13 semifinals air next Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Fox.
