AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts tennis visits Richmond, Virginia, on Saturday, March 22, to face Atlantic 10 rival Richmond at the Westhampton Tennis Complex at 11 a.m.
Last Time Out
The Minutewomen improved to 6-5 overall and 1-0 in the A-10 Conference, after defeating George Washington, 4-1, on Wednesday morning.
After the Revolutionaries took the doubles point, UMass bounced back in singles competition, picking up four straight points. Mariana Campino downed George Washington, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 1 singles, before Martina Pavissich won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 5. Belle Jonglertrakul defeated her opponent, 6-4, 6-3, while Amelia Tye clinched the match point with a 7-5, 6-1 victory at court No. 4.
Scouting Richmond
The Richmond Spiders hold a 5-4 overall record on the season. The Spiders most recent came against Liberty on the road last Sunday, as Richmond won 5-2. Richmond will begin league competition with Fordham on Friday, prior to Saturday’s match with Massachusetts.
Weekly Honors
Faessler collected the first Atlantic 10 weekly award of the year for the Minutewomen on February 4. The junior tabbed the A-10 Player of the Week accolade, which marked the first weekly honor of her career. On the week, Faessler went 2-0 in singles competition and 1-0 in doubles play.
