National Weather Service issues ‘hazardous weather outlook’ for more than 3 dozen Pa. counties

A large portion of Pennsylvania is expected to see a lot of rain on Monday, according to the National Weather Service in State College. In some areas, the rain is expected to begin on Sunday night.

The National Weather Service issued a “hazardous weather outlook” for more than three dozen counties.

Here’s a look at different parts of the state that could be impacted by the rain:

  • Franklin, Perry, Dauphin, Schuylkill, Lebanon, Cumberland, Adam, York and Lancaster counties: A line of strong to severe thunderstorms will sweep through Monday afternoon, with the primary threat being damaging wind gusts, according to the National Weather Service in State College
  • Erie and Crawford counties: Rain showers and thunderstorms are expected Sunday evening and overnight. Some storms could be strong to severe with all hazard types possible, including damaging winds, large hail, and a few tornadoes, according to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, Ohio.
  • Warren, McKean, Potter, Elk, Cameron, Clearfield, Cambria and Somerset counties: A few strong thunderstorms are possible later Sunday evening into early Sunday night, according to the National Weather Service in State College. A line of strong to severe thunderstorms will sweep through Monday afternoon, with the primary threat being damaging wind gusts.
  • Tioga, Bradford, Susquehanna, Wayne, Wyoming, Lackawanna, Luzerne and Pike counties: Scattered strong to severe storms with damaging wind gusts are possible Monday, according to the National Weather Service in Binghamton, New York.
  • Clinton, Sullivan, Centre, Blair, Huntingdon, Mifflin, Juniata, Bedford, Fulton, Tioga, Lycoming, Union, Snyder, Montour and Columbia counties: A line of strong to severe thunderstorms will sweep through Monday afternoon, with the primary threat being damaging wind gusts, according to the National Weather Service in State College.
