WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Overnight storms moving through Northwest Arkansas left behind widespread damage and knocked out power to thousands.
Ashley Harris, Vice President of Marketing and Communications at Ozarks Electric Cooperative, said crews were mobilized ahead of the storms and have been working to address outages.
“If you’re experiencing an outage, just know that we are monitoring that 24 hours a day, and we are aware of those outages,” Harris said. “But feel free, if it makes you feel better, certainly give us a call at Ozarks Electric.”
Harris also reminded members that outages can be reported through multiple platforms, including the My Ozarks app, the cooperative’s website at ozarksecc.com, or by phone.
Ozarks Electric serves Washington County, Adair County (Oklahoma), and portions of Franklin and Madison counties. Harris said the largest impact overnight was in the Tontitown area, where a circuit went down, prompting the co-op to dispatch four construction crews and two service crews to address the issue.

“There were several poles down on that thoroughfare in Tontitown,” Harris said. “We sent construction crews to switch out those poles and get electricity restored as soon as possible.”
She also warned residents to keep a safe distance from downed lines.
“If you see a pole down, do not approach it,” Harris said. “Always assume it’s energized. Let us know immediately, and we’ll send a crew out to handle it.”
While the skies have temporarily cleared, Harris said Ozarks Electric is preparing for more storms.
“We are anticipating a lot of weather coming through. It’s nice outside right now, but we expect more storms,” she said. “We’ve got rotating crews working around the clock, both internally in our dispatch center and externally in the field.”
This is a developing story. KNWA/FOX24 will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available. Severe weather is expected to return on Sunday, April 20 — Easter Sunday.
