Person stabbed at West Potomac High School

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — A person was stabbed at a Virginia high school Wednesday morning, Fairfax County Fire and Rescue said.

Emergency medical services responded to West Potomac High School in Alexandria at 9:50 a.m. for a report of a stabbing. When they arrived, they found someone with multiple stab wounds. Authorities say his injuries are life threatening.

Officials have not said how old the person is yet. It is unknown whether he is a student or staff. 

A spokesperson for Fairfax County Police confirms a suspect is in custody for the stabbing. They have not identified the person in custody, or said what charges that person may be facing. They also have not said what happened leading up to the stabbing.

The school system has not yet said how the school is responding to the incident. It’s unknown where in the school the stabbing happened.

West Potomac High School begins its school day at 8:10 a.m. The stabbing happened within the first two hours of the day.
