Rams trade up 10 spots, select Auburn RB Jarquez Hunter in 4th round

When the Los Angeles Rams see a player they like on the board, they’re not afraid to go up and get him. That’s exactly what they did in the fourth round on Saturday, trading up 10 spots from No. 127 to 117.

With the 117th pick, the Rams selected Auburn running back Jarquez Hunter. In order to move up 10 spots, the Rams gave the Colts No. 127 and 190 overall.

Last season at Auburn, Hunter rushed for 1,201 yards and eight touchdowns, adding 21 receptions and 155 yards receiving, as well. He was a first-team All-SEC selection, averaging a healthy 6.4 yards per carry. In 2023, he was a second-team All-SEC selection with 909 yards and seven touchdowns, starting 12 games for the Tigers.

At the NFL combine, Hunter ran a 4.44 in the 40-yard dash with a 1.58-second 10-yard split. He’s on the smaller side like Kyren Williams and Blake Corum, standing 5-foot-9 and 204 pounds, but he runs hard and consistently breaks tackles.

NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein projected him to go in Rounds 5-6 so it was a bit earlier than expected, but the Rams are never satisfied at running back no matter who’s on the roster.
