Sacramento businesses to curate special menu for A’s Opening Day

SACRAMENTO, Calif. —With West Sacramento welcoming the Athletics for at least the next three seasons, downtown Sacramento and Old Sacramento businesses are gearing up to attract baseball fans.

From exclusive menus to game-day promotions, the excitement is palpable across the city.

“Old Sacramento is just a four-minute walk across the bridge from the stadium. We’re excited to highlight all the incredible businesses in the area,” said Andrew LaFrance of the Downtown Sacramento Partnership.

More than 50 establishments are participating and offering unique promotions. The promotion is being spearheaded by the Downtown Partnership.

Akash Lal, owner of the Union Hotel in Old Sacramento, shared his plans to draw crowds.

“We want fans to have an incredible experience — from the menu to the time they leave,” Lal said.

Some of his specials include two-for-one drinks and expanded appetizer options at Finnegan’s and the Union Lounge.

Legend Has It, a Hi-Fi listening bar on L Street, will feature beer flights, including their “Grand Slam” selection.

“We’ve partnered with the Downtown Partnership to welcome the team and fans. We’ll offer beer specials and open early for pre-games,” said owner Jose Medina.

Medina says they also plan on hosting events throughout the season to entice Major League Baseball fans into his bar.

The Downtown Sacramento Partnership plans to launch a webpage highlighting food, drink, and retail specials, many with baseball themes.

Among the offerings are nacho specials at Beach Hut Deli and beer-and-shot combos at Grange.

“This is about showcasing Downtown Sacramento and bringing new crowds across the river,” LaFrance said.
