Stock futures spiked higher after the latest consumer price index showed inflation cooled more than anticipated in February.

The CPI rose 0.2% in February from January, or a 2.8% annual rate. Economists anticipated a 2.9% annual increase.
Stocks had fallen sharply in recent sessions as markets worried about the White House’s unpredictable tariff rollout. U.S. Treasury bonds, which had rallied in recent weeks as investors favored safer assets, were mostly unchanged Wednesday morning in the wake of the CPI.
