LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The playoff run begins Sunday for the Vegas Golden Knights, but plenty of VGK fans think the team has the first playoff series in the bag as they take on the Minnesota Wild.
FOX5 caught up with a few of them at City National Arena. Many are betting big on the guys in gold hoisting some silver when all is said and done! Fans like Matt Baiza. “We’re going all the way without a doubt. We’re going all the Way, this is our year,” Baiza said.
The Las Vegas local says while he believes in his team, he knows the other guys are formidable opponents.
“You know, I’ll be realistic. We got to give the credit where the credit is due. Minnesota is a good team. I would say that might take it down in five,” Baiza said.
VGK fan and fellow Las Vegas local, Chase Marshall, thinks it takes a little longer for the VGK to find their footing on the ice.
“I think they’re going to do great. I mean, I think Vegas is gonna take it in six against Minnesota,” Marshall said. “Minnesota is a great team. They got Kaprizov, Spurgeon and you know it’s going to be a tough matchup, but I think i think we can pull it out.”
As a fan who follows the game closely, Marshall tells FOX5 his prediction for the standouts who will help take the team to the winner’s circle.
“Probably Hertl or Dorofeyev,” Marshall said. “I think Eichel will do pretty good, too.”
In looking at the line-up, Marshall also says which teams might give the VGK some trouble.
“Colorado, probably Dallas,” Marshall said. “One of those two. Colorado probably.”
The Vegas Golden Knights are home at the Fortress for games one and two in a best-of-seven series.
