The No. 7 seed Golden State Warriors notched a road victory over the No. 2 seed Houston Rockets on Sunday night, recording a 95-85 final score at the Toyota Center.
Before this year’s trade deadline, the Warriors acquired six-time NBA All-Star Jimmy Butler in a blockbuster deal with the Miami Heat. And in the franchise’s first game of the 2025 postseason, that trade paid off in a big way.
Butler helped propel the Warriors to victory with 25 points, seven rebounds, six assists and five steals — making him just the fourth player in franchise history to record at least 25-5-5-5 in a playoff game.
The Warriors announced Butler as their Player of the Game.
Though Butler was crowned Player of the Game, Stephen Curry also put on a masterful performance in Game 1. The all-time great sharpshooter finished the matchup with a game-high 31 points on 12-for-19 shooting from the field and 5-for-9 shooting from behind the 3-point arc.
“Like I always say, Batman comes out of nowhere,” Butler said of Curry in his postgame interview “You never see him coming, then he just fall from the sky, from a building, behind a door, and does some incredible things. He’s gonna be the reason that we do win at all.”
