Xavier started 1-4 in the Big East, but won 12 of its last 15 games. But the Musketeers are near the cutline for the NCAAs and need the victory to improve their chances of getting an at-large bid.
This is the time of the season where scouting reports against familiar opponents are almost secondary. Fifth-seeded Marquette (22-9 overall, 13-7 in the Big East) and fourth-seeded Xavier (21-10, 13-7) split the season series, winning on each other’s home court.
