What to know before heading to The K for Opening Day

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Royals will host the Cleveland Guardians for Opening Day on Thursday, looking to set the tone for the new season at Kauffman Stadium.

Here is what you need to know if you’re headed to the ballpark for Opening Day:

There are a limited number of tickets available for fans to get their hands on. Tickets currently range from $151 to $516, depending on where you want to sit.

The stadium gates will open at noon for the 3:10 p.m. start time. Add tickets to your mobile wallet for easy entry.

Parking lots will open at 9 a.m. for those who want to arrive early or tailgate.

Parking must be purchased in advance. To gain entry to Kauffman Stadium, you must show your pass at the toll gates using the MLB Ballpark app on your phone.

When purchasing parking online in advance, a general parking pass is $21, a reserved parking pass is $31, and an oversize vehicle parking pass is $41.

Opening Day Ceremonies will begin at 2:30 p.m. Ceremonies will include:

  • Introductions of the 2025 Royals team
  • American flag ceremony held by airmen from Whiteman Air Force Base
  • National Anthem performance by “The Haygoods”
  • Flyover from Whiteman Air Force Base

The Royals do not accept cash at Kauffman Stadium. All concession stands and retail stores are completely cashless.

For fans who only have cash on hand, there are reverse ATMs that enable a touchless and automated conversion of cash into a Mastercard-accepting payment card.

Reverse ATMs are located in the Plaza Team Store, sections 221 and 234, in the outfield behind Crown Vision, and sections 419 and 423.

One way to watch Royals games this season is on FanDuel Sports Network Kansas City, which changed its name from Bally Sports KC in October of last year. Fans can also upgrade their Amazon Prime account to include a live TV feature.
