It’s cut day at the Masters. Who will make it to the weekend at Augusta?
Several favorites enter today in danger of missing the cut, including 2023 champion Jon Rahm. Phil Mickelson, Tony Finau and Billy Horschel also have work to do to make it to moving day. After climbing up the leaderboard early, Rory McIlroy got himself into trouble late. And here’s hoping 65-year-old Fred Couples can make the cut: He finished the first round 1 under.
It would take a miracle for Nick Dunlap to make the cut after shooting a 90 in a disastrous first round. But it’s fair game for just about everyone else. Let’s hope the weather cooperates.

Will Phil Mickelson make the cut at the Masters?
Three-time Masters champion Phil Mickelson began the day at 3 over par but birdied the 10th to get down to 1 over for the tournament. However, disaster struck when Lefty found the water on back-to-back holes on the 15th and 16th. The LIV Golf player is at 4 over through 16. He’s hoping to avoid missing the cut at Augusta for the first time since 2016.
Did Fred Couples make the cut at the Masters?
The 1992 Masters champ came into the second round at 1 under par, but time seemed to finally catch up to the 65-year-old Friday. Fred Couples had six bogeys on the day, including one on the 18th hole after just missing a putt that would have kept him alive at making the cut. He finished at 4 over for the tournament.
Did Bernard Langer make the cut at the Masters?
The two-time Masters champion is making his 41st start at Augusta National and hasn’t made the cut since 2020. But the 67-year-old birdied twice in the front nine Friday, seemingly putting him in good position to survive to the weekend at his final Masters. However, a double bogey on No. 15 and a near miss on 18 led to a bogey, Langer finished at 3 over for the tournament, putting him on the outside looking in as the tournament winds down.
Did Brooks Koepka miss the cut at the Masters?
The five-time major champion saw his hopes of making the weekend at the Masters go up in smoke. Brooks Koepka had a disastrous quadruple bogey on the 18th hole to put him at 5 over for the tournament. He will not make the cut.
Who is the oldest player to make the cut at the Masters? Barnhard Langer and Fred Couples play for history
In 2023 at 63 years old, Fred Couples became the oldest player to make the cut at the Masters, beating Bernhard Langer’s record set in 2020 (Langer is a few months younger). Now in 2025, Couples and Langer are looking to set new records as 65-year-olds. However, both are currently at 3 over, with Langer finishing with a bogey and Couples through 17.
Did Max Homa make the cut at the Masters?
Max Homa tied for third at the 2024 Masters but has had a hard time in 2025, missing the cut in five straight tournaments. It didn’t look good after going 2 over in the first round, but with birdies on three of the four par-5s on Friday, Homa got back to even par for the tournament and will play the weekend.
Will Jon Rahm make the cut at the Masters?
The 2023 Masters champion has been battling his driver, but he’s still put himself in position to make the weekend. He’s avoided bogeys after finishing the first round at 3 over, and his birdie on the par-4 7th has him at 2 over for the tournament. Depending on where the final cut line sits, Rahm could qualify for the weekend.
Did Russell Henley make the cut at the Masters?
After his 79 in the first round, it seemed Russell Henley didn’t have a shot at seeing the weekend at Augusta National. But with six birdies after a round-opening bogey, he somehow reached the projected cut line. Unfortunately, a bogey on the 18th hole means the 35-year-old finished at 3 over for the tournament, unlikely to make the cut. He carded a 68, still an impressive 11-stroke turnaround.
Masters cut line: Early Friday players to watch
In the first few hours of Friday’s play, the one player that began the day safe but had played his way onto the cut line was Cameron Davis. He shot a 2-over 74 on Thursday, and through six holes on Friday, had dropped to 3-over, right on the cut line.

How many players make the cut at the Masters?
Of the 95 golfers who entered the tournament, 50 are guaranteed to make the cut and play this weekend. That number can grow to account for ties, and players within 10 strokes of the lead also get to play the weekend. Last year, 60 players made the cut at 6 over.
